Polimeks will support the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial through Academy Platform.
The 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial hosted by the Istanbul Foundation for Arts and Culture (IKSV), curated by Zoë Ryan, with the title The Future Is Not What It Used To Be will open its floors to visitors soon. The Biennial will be visited free of charge at the Galata Greek Primary School from November 1 through December 14, 2014. Along with the main exhibition, the Academy Program will help convey activities such as workshops, panel sessions, talks, seminars, competitions, as well as the interdisciplinary interactions between Architecture, Design, Fine Arts and Engineering faculties to the biennial followers at the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial. The exhibition of the Academy Program will be on view at the university campuses, and at Antrepo 7 that is located at the Salıpazarı Harbor.
A total of 33 academic institutions take part in the “Academy Program” with 72 projects that include workshops, exhibitions, panel sessions and seminars. The program will also be followed through the digital platform that is developed with the sponsorship of Polimeks Holding this year. The digital platform will serve as a long-term archive for the projects of all universities that participate in the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial, and will become online on October 30. Along with universities from cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, universities from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Europe and the US will take part in various activities and projects. The Oslo School of Architecture and Design – AHO (Norway), the University of Graz (Austria), New Design University – NDU (Australia), the University of Oregon (USA), Yale University (USA) will participate at the biennial with the host of Architecture and Design Faculty of Kadir Has University. Furthermore, the Istituto Europeo di Design – IED from Italy is among the institutions that will take part in the program independently.
The students whose projects receive the highest amount of viewer traffic on the Academy Digital Platform will be awarded with Polimeks Holding Special Prize.
