Polimeks Construction to undertake the renovation of Libya Ouzou Hotel.

As one of the largest international contracting companies of Turkey, Polimeks Construction was awarded the renovation of Libya Ouzou Hotel. The renovation budget of the Ouzou Hotel in Benghazi, Libya is about 29 million euros, and it is targeted to be completed in 2015.

The project covers the enlargement of the rooms to 24 square meters from the existing 20 square meters through inclusion of the balcony in each room, full renovation of the façade of the building as GRC panel, renewal of the electrical and mechanical systems, construction of an open carpark with 174 vehicle capacity and 12 open sports areas, and the renovation of the complete hotel within the framework of Hilton Garden Inn standard. The Hotel will have 240 standard rooms and 24 suite rooms after the renovation. Of these suites, 6 will be arranged for use by disabled.

Tabanca: “Libya is a new market for us”

Polimeks Construction Chairman Erol Tabanca said Polimeks completed many successful projects in the past 19 years, most of which were in Turkmenistan, and now Libya was a new market for them. Tabanca said their works included a wide variety of fields including cultural-arts and sports complexes, government buildings, hotels, hospitals, treatment facilities, and cement factories, adding that they crowned their international projects with Ashgabat International Airport Project, which the largest single item awarded to a Turkish company abroad. Tabanca continued as follows: “We are targeting to complete Ashgabat International Airport in 2016 which started in January 2013 as a project to serve 14 million passengers annually with a covered areas of about 360,000 square meters. Besides, the construction is also underway for the Ashgabat Olympic Complex which was designed in accordance with the International Olympic Committee’s standards and planned to host the Asian Olympic Games in 2017. Awaza Congress Center project, another ongoing project in Turkmenistan, is the largest congress center in Central Asia.”

Tabanca also reminded that they worked on many projects in Turkey, and Eskisehir SPA and Thermal Hotel project, which is one of them, is expected to offer a great contribution to the social and cultural life of the region when completed. “We are targeting to increase our share in the international markets each year,” Tabanca said.

“We have got an established system and corporate structure. We constantly review our short-term and medium-term strategy according to the changing market conditions in our country and in the world.  Within the very short time since our foundation, we keep rising to the very top of the global construction league steadily. We are targeting to grow by increasing our market share in international markets, including mainly Turkmenistan.  Along with this target, our medium and long term growth markets include Turkmenistan, the Middle East, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Africa. Ouzou Hotel renovation was our first business in Libya. We will work for implementing new projects after we complete this one,” Tabanca added.
