Water Canal (Water Park)
Ashgabat – 2006
Water Canal is a project that transforms life and environment in Ashgabat. The Water Canal project includes a long water canal that is constructed through restructuring a gully and the recreational green areas along the banks of the water canal. Water Canal is one of the favorite recreational areas of Ashgabat.
Water has played a key role in the development of civilizations throughout history. Once harnessed, water contributes greatly to people’s lifestyle, to the development of cities, and also to the climate. With this as a starting point, the Water Canal project was built by reconstructing existing water channels into a 12-meter wide water canal that runs 10.78 kilometers through the city. Parks, gardens and recreational areas line the banks of the canal. As part of this project, trees and grass were planted along the length of the canal and a 4.4 km pipeline has been laid to bring water to the Water Canal.
