Ashgabat – 2016
The Olympic Complex is a gigantic facility constructed in the Turkmen capital, Ashgabat, across an area of 1.466.400 m2, with all details thoroughly considered from A to Z, and can be conveniently accessed from each and every corner of the city by virtue of its location at the junction of four main arteries. The Ashgabat Olympic Complex will host the "5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games" (AIMAG) in September 2017.
The Olympic Complex is located close to the Kopet Mountains in Ashgabat city center, an excellent location in terms of transportation routes. This complex, which will host the 2017 “Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games” (AIMAG), will consist of multipurpose structures and premises suitable for different sporting events.
The overall concept of the project was prepared by Polimeks, and has been designed by international project and engineering companies experienced in the design of world-famous sports facilities where major sporting events, such as the Olympic Games, have been held.
The Olympic Complex project completed in three phases. First phase of project has been already completed; Polimeks is responsible for the architectural/engineering designs, construction and landscaping of social facilities including the facilities for various sports branches, hotels, accommodation and restaurants for the athletes, and commercial centers and recreational facilities. As such, the premises to be built by Polimeks are the 5,000-capacity water sports facility, 4,000-capacity tennis facility, 5,000-capacity indoor athletics facility, a 450-bed VIP hotel, residences for athletes, cultural centers. Within the first phase of the project; 6,000-capacity indoor velodrome, 15,000-capacity team sports arena, 5,000-capacity individual sports arena, outdoor sports areas, a media center, an 800-bed hotel, business center building and indoor/outdoor car parks have been already completed. As part of this project, 45,000 seated Olympic Stadium has been also brought in line with the requirements of international sports federations and still under construction. All of the premises to be constructed under the project will meet all standards for training and competitions in diverse sporting branches including karate, judo, boxing, cycling, tennis, swimming, weightlifting, athletics, gymnastics, soccer, basketball, volleyball and handball. In addition to the construction of the buildings withing the project, Polimeks is responsible for the supply and installation of sports equipment to be used inside the buildings, as well as the supply and installation of multimedia systems, security systems, IT infrastructure and other equipment required by the management of these premises. Polimeks will complete the project on a “turnkey” basis. Besides the construction of the buildings and premises, a striking coherence will be achieved in landscaping works by integrating the aesthetic approach with the requirements in terms of pedestrian traffic management.
A 5,2 kilometer monorail system is planned to be laid around the complex in order to meet the transportation needs. The total base area of the project is 1,466,400 m² and the total construction area of the premises is 1,284,882.69 m² .
